From power generation, the 2014 global total capacity of 23,480TWh (23.48 trillion kWh), in which conventional energy sources (coal, gas, oil, nuclear) power 18,127TWh, accounting for 77.2%; all kinds of renewable energy 5,353TWh , accounting for 22.8%. Hydropower 3,898TWh (16.6%), wind power 728TWh (3.1%), solar power 211TWh (0.9%), biomass power 423TWh (1.8%), geothermal power 94TWh (0.4%).
In 2014 the installed capacity and power generation capacity is estimated that the global annual average utilization hours of generating equipment of various types of renewable energy as follows:
- Hydro: 3,694 hours
- Wind: 1,967 hours
- Solar power: 1,168 hours
- Biomass Power Generation: 4,545 hours
- Geothermal: 7,225 hours
