Taiwan's AU Optronics and American Science and Technology announced that it would dispose of Malacca in Malaysia SunPower joint venture AUO SunPower Sdn.Bhd. (AUSP) common shares, and funded by the partners of $ 170 million yuan acquisition of SunPower. AUO is estimated to be recognized related to a loss of about $ 7 million in the third quarter , and stressed that this is not the loss of cash, but will generate cash flow. The transaction will be completed before the end of September. AUO also said the company has signed a 100MW high efficiency back contact solar module supply contract with E-Series SunPowerSystemsSarl, will help the company develop power plant business.

SunPower plan to upgrade Malaysia plant
SunPower CEO of TomWerner said that in the continued development of solar energy industry, which is alo good for portable solar power generator market, the cost of solar power will gradually decrease. AUO acquired AUSP holdings, will help SunPower high-efficiency solar cells master of their own production units required for future upgrades and expansion.
SunPower said the company expected to Upgrade LEDD certified Malacca plant, prepare the required expansion in the future. Werner noted that the acquisition of AUO AUSP holdings, allowing SunPower to take further technology upgrades to reduce costs, plan of action within the capacity expansion and the like.
